Now,when I think about those six years my parents struggled with me, I think about what it actually cost them.

The sleepless nights. The fear. The not knowing whether to push harder or back off. The feeling that they were failing me, even when they were doing everything they could.

My mum once told me she used to lie awake running through every conversation we'd had that day, trying to work out what she'd done wrong.

​

She hadn't done anything wrong.

​

She just didn't have the right understanding. Nobody had given it to her.

​

And here's what I've learned in 30 years of working with families: 

That's almost always the story. Not bad parents. Not bad teenagers. Just families without the right map — stuck in patterns nobody can see from the inside, trying the same things over and over and wondering why nothing changes.

So I built the thing I wish my parents had had. 

​

I built it because every single day, there are parents out there doing exactly what my parents did — struggling alone, without support, without understanding, without anyone in their corner who actually gets how serious this is.

Parents who are lying awake at 2am. Parents who are frightened of their own child. Parents who love their teenager more than anything and have no idea what to do.

​

And the resources that exist? They're generic. They're shallow. They're built for mildly difficult teenagers — not for families in real crisis.

Reasonable Hope is a space where a parent can finally understand what's really driving their teenager's behaviour.

Where micro moments — small, specific shifts — can change things at home. Where a family in crisis can find their way back to calm, connection, and each other.

And I made it accessible enough that the parents who need it most can actually get to it.

Because if my parents — with no training, no support, no method — could help me through my darkest years?
