Rid the should and shouldn't to break the cycle of challenging behaviour

Updated: Sep 9

My parents were successful entrepreneurs back in their time. I was privileged growing up.

We had nice cars, expensive clothes, regular trips abroad and more.

When I was 13 years old, my dad bought us ( me and my siblings) a house across from our home.

His business was expanding so he needed more space.

But most importantly, he wanted us to start to learn to be independent.

It was horrifying for us. We struggled for a wee while, but with support from my parents, we got there..

My parents taught us ""HOW".

We had our routine in both houses, but by end of day, we returned to the house my parents bought us.

We would get on with our homework, watch telly, play games, argue of course, we knew what time to go to bed, and what time to get up for school and breakfast…etc.

Now you are probably thinking what has it got to do with anything..

Well…

Everything..

✅Your teens grow up regardless, it’s a given.

❌ But their skills don’t.

They don’t just grow up to know how to cook, how to problem solve, how to make friends, how to talk about their feelings, how to overcome challenges, how to feel good about themselves…

They learn from you.

They learn from what you teach them, show them and what you experience with them.

There’s No parenting manual to teach you how to be a parent.

✅You parent your children/teens from your experiences of being parented by your parents.

😁You may catch yourself sometimes acting like your parent, and went, OMG.. “I hated that when my parents did that to me”..

I heard this often.😁

You are not alone.

✅The anxieties of not always knowing what to do when your teens say or do something.

✅The worries of your teens’ friendships and future are real.

✅The understanding of your own journey and the impact it has on you and your teens is not something you can learn easily from googling.

💪Be the parents you are aspired to be to guide your teen through the most challenging life cycle and allow you, your teens and family to enjoy this journey together.

❌Rid the should and shouldn't

✅teach your teens skills, teach them "HOW" to....

A Traumatic event nearly broke the family. After a  year of trying everything but nothing worked, they found their harmony

I was really struggling to be honest! Some things happened and I lost all of my confidence. I made mistakes and didn't know how to get back on track.

BUT after just a couple of sessions with Pei-I, I’m feeling soooo much better. I’m really positive about the future instead of worrying all of the time. For me, the best thing has been the clear strategies you’ve provided.

And I can see the strategies you’ve given me are working already!! After just a couple of weeks things have improved massively. I’m so happy I found you and so excited for the future!! This is exactly what we needed. I know we will all be less stressed and happier because of the work we’ve been doing together Pei-I - we already are (but I’m not letting you go anywhere just yet ).

Anyone who is thinking of working with you should absolutely DO IT. You’re extremely knowledgeable in this area and definitely a talented coach. I feel like to always listen but equally have a lot of amazing insights to share. I love that in a coach.  Mum from England
